Bee Keeping for Business

Course Outline:

Courses are divided into 2 parts over a period of 5 days. Two days will be dedicated to learning the skills required to be a beekeeper. Three days will be dedicated to making a business from the products created from your beehive.

Practical Skills Training:

This part of the course is offered to give potential beekeepers the practical skills and tools on how to prepare a bee hive. It involves hands-on experience with live bees where the participants will go through a beehive with an experienced beekeeper. Students will learn the following :

  • The biology of bees
  • Safety
  • How to use equipment connected to a beehive
  • Production of honey and beeswax and associated products
  • Duties of beekeepers
  • How to start a hive
  • Laws you need to know
  • Harvesting
  • Costs of setting up a beehive

Business Skills Training:

This part of the course will take students through the necessary steps to turn their products into a business. A very dynamic and practical approach is used to give students the maximum hands on experience as they develop their own individual, business plan. Students are given the opportunity to explore and develop their own networks. Students will learn the following:

  • How to start my business
  • Assets, Stocks, Cash and Credit
  • Balance Sheet
  • Quality and Value Add
  • Marketing My Product
  • Production, Sales and Costs
  • Income Statement
  • Managing Cash Flow
  • Growing My Business

Course Duration: 5 days
Monday to Friday from 8.30am- 4pm

Course Cost: R1950

Included in the Course Fees:

  • All course material and personal manual
  • Technical clothing required
  • 4 hours of private business coaching once the course is completed
